Aaarrrggghhhh... Dirty Laundry!

Please make it stop...my head is about to explode.

  **********************************************************

As we all know, dirty laundry never goes away. Once hung in public view it becomes cannon fodder forever or at least that is according to the "rules of the south" and I think it is a Texas constitutional ammendment that requires it be cussed and discussed ad infinitum.

So, let me so state that I did not mean to piss anybody off, but was merely using information gained at AA to carry back to make improvements to the Scouting program just like we were asked to do.

I was simply using a factual example of improper group hiking techniques and not a hypothetical made up example.

I am sorry if it touched sensitive nerves and the sensibilities of some list members. Back in 1959 at the ripe age of 14, I was advisie to take a small bottle of tincture of benzoin to apply to my skin to toughen it. T of B is commonly called "tough skin" for that very reason. I carried it on my Phirst PhilTrek and it toughened my skin considerably. I highly recommend it for those with tnederfoot skin.

I am proud to say that I used this EXACT same example of improper group hiking technique with a group of 8 year old Cub Scouts on their very first camping trip this weekend with a lot more positive results than some of the adult PhiList members who got hurt feelings.

None of these Cub Scouts got hurt feelings. They listened to reason and during a three day, two night event at a VERY LARGE BSA Camp George Strake, Flemming Cub World attended by more than a fivehundred Cub Scouts plus about seven hundred fifty parents, NONE of the Cub Scouts got lost or even separated.

So, In closing I feel elated! All was not lost on deaf ears after all and besides about half of the adult members of the PhiList, a whole bunch of Cub Scouts caught it the first time around. Of course they were Texas Cub Scouts which shurely made a difference. They even had the Texas flag flying farom the campsite flagpole.

That evening we watched a movie that made me think of Rich Cabins, Crooked Creek and the programs there. It was called Barnyard. Then we sang Old McDonal Had A Farm.

And it was good. Had some become seperated, life would not have been quite as good.

Ths past weekend I showered and washed my hands, dishes and laundry in a very minute amount of Camp Suds just like they taught us to do at Philmont so very long ago. Some things learned on the PhilTrail was worth doing in places besides Philont.

I therefore returned home with NO DIRTY LAUNDRY and my head feels good, really good!
