Brand new question for me. One that someone has a good answer for.
Are map reading skills and book reading skills the same animal?
Yes I know the words on the map are important but i have known many
people who were great "book readers" who could not get through a map and
compass course if their life depended on it. Matter of fact my first
wife has been that way for almost 20 years now.
Therefore it would seem reasonable that some who have a hard time with
"book reading" would be outstanding with Orienteering skills.
And I think we all acknowledge that the "sense of direction" is a
trained (or natural) skill that has little to do with books, maps or
compass points.
So what says the list about this interesting idea?
