This is interesting, I just found our Camp Daniel Boone trail map from our 2000 trek last night after "missing" it for 5+ years.
Our Troop 319 from Louisville, KY has been there twice and can say that in someways it can be as challenging as Philmont.
The first trek was in 2000 and we spent most of the time in the Shining Rock Wilderness Area. The trails are not all blazed but are worn in. We hiked without a guide and were told we'd be the ONLY Troop without a guide. We ended up the ONLY Troop to meet all of our check-in times via radio on time.
My co-advisor for 2000 Trek & Phil 2002, Dan Preston can tell you more about the 2nd Trek in 2005 that he was the advisor on.
Dan monitors this site and has a much more detailed memory then I do.

Waited a little to long to sign up for the council 2008 contigent, and they lost some spots as well.? Looking for some alternatives, and have seen some interesting treks on Camp Daniel Boone near Asheville.

Anyone have any experiences with these week long treks?

Thanks!
