[Philmont] Lenhok'sin High Adventure camp info

Lots of experience with Lenhok'sin. I'll second most of Dr. Bob's
comments.

My daughter and half a dozen of my other crew members worked on staff
over the last 10 years or so. Our crew has gone 5 times. The camp
allows you
to tailor your program to be as challenging as your crew wants it to
be. Hiking
in VA in the summer is a lot hotter and more humid than Philmont,
though.

The outposts (you can usually pick up to 4) tend to be uneven and very
dependent
on the hiring process. Most are better than Philmont's, but it's
variable. We've had the Civil War outpost be both the high point
and the low point of treks just 2 years apart, for example. We've
enjoyed rock
climbing and the horseback outpost is always a favorite, largely due to
Mr.
Nicely, who is in his 80s and tells great stories about the bicentenial
wagon
train. Mountain Man has been wonderful, and so-so. I've always
enjoyed Foxfire (working an iron forge in the August heat is more fun
than it sounds, and if you enjoy the stairs down to the pool, thank my
crew, who built them--twice, 8 years apart.)

I think it is a good value for the money. Our crew has hiked a 50
miler, as
well as just half that distance, depending on the crew maturity and
interest at
the time. If you have a bunch of studs, you can bag all five peaks.
Nothing near even a quarter as high as Baldy, but going straight up the
Missing Link trail or the powerline not-so-trail can be QUITE
challenging.

Still loking at some alternative to Philmont in 2008, and came across
Lenhok'sin High Adventure in VA.

Anyone have any experience?
