No, Dr. Bob is correct. Venture Patrol Leader is an
acceptable position of responsibility for the Eagle
rank in a troop.
BTW, it is Venturing Crew not Venture Crew if you are
referencing the BSA's co-ed program for high school and
college youth between the ages of 14-21.
In a Venturing Crew, the positions of responsibility
which count toward Eagle are President, Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer along with the Sea Scout Ship
positions of Boatswain, Boatswain's Mate, Yeoman, Purser
and Storekeeper.
"Venture Crew" was the old term, used in a troop, for
what is now called a Venture Patrol. The term Venture
Crew should no longer be used as there is no such thing
as a Venture Crew in the BSA any longer.
A Venturing Crew is what units are called in the co-ed
program that replaced the old high adventure, outdoor,
etc. Exploring program. This took place in August, 1998,
when the career awareness Exploring program moved to the
BSA's Learning for Life subsidiary and the term
Venturing Crew was introduced.
All of this is a little confusing, but the terminology
isn't all that difficult if one makes the effort to use
it correctly.
