I've bought three stoves on eBay:
Coleman Exponent Xtreme
Optimus 8R
Svea 123
All of these were at significant discount over retail (the swedish ones
were under $25 & the coleman under $45). Of course you can get caught up
in the frenzy of auction shopping so you need to pick your max price &
remember that another one WILL be offered so be patient. Also read the
feedbacks on the sellers. Don't be blinded by a low price such that you
get ripped off by a scam.
The MSR stoves are popular so they aren't discounted very much - I'd stick
to retail if I had to have one (but with the quality of the swedish stoves
that I got, I'd skip MSR altogether). As for a Peak1, our troop has a lot
of these & they have been very reliable. If I wanted one more stove, I'd
consider it if it were cheap.
