Not complaints, only evaluations of improperly assembled sentences. The
meaning of the words MUST be different than what was taught several
generations ago.
I am thinking of such words as "need" "carry" "canteen" , etc.
Speaking of which, have you tried using the word "canteen" on one of today's
rangers or for that matter crew members? I don't think they have even seen a
canteen. It's "water bottles" isn't it?
I'm trying to think of the appropriate punishment I'd have received had I
referred to my "canteen" as my "water bottle" to my drill sergeant in basic
training.
I did see the results of a recruit referring to his M-14 rifle as his gun.
Seems I remember him muttering something for hours about "gun" "rifle" and
"sun" while standing at attention in front of the entire company.
Oh well, languages change. That's part of evolution. And that's a whole
nother ball of wax.
