Not just as a Ranger, but also backcountry staff, and basecamp staff. There
really is no bad job on the ranch.

This reminds me of the fact that it seems many who hike at Philmont do not
know that all staff they meet along the trail or at backcountry camps are
not Rangers. I don't know how many times I've heard of "staff" referred to
as Rangers because they all wear the same shirts & the name tags all look
the same except that most backcountry staff wear interpretive clothing
suitable to their camp. A dining hall server or bathroom sweeper, or even
the staff caring for the PTC youth guests, will look the same on the trail
as a Ranger will, and in no attempt to demean them, I'm certain the
beginning basecamp employee will not know nearly what a Ranger does. If you
are going to take anything from a maroon shirt (or whatever the current
year's staff color is) as words of wisdom, know who they are coming from.
