To all who have answered my initial request for information on Philmont.....
A great big Scouting thank you to all of you!! (As I type this, another response just popped into my Inbox).
On one hand, I shouldn't be surprised at the response. Scouters are the finest people around and will give the shirt off their back to help another Scouter, especially in a situation like this where I'm looking for information well in advance of our trek.
On the other hand, I really can't believe the number of responses and the fantastic advice and suggestions. You all are truly great!

At first glance, if I read you all correctly, a crew hiking Philmont will have the opportunity to hike one or more of the major peaks (i.e. Tooth of Time, Phillips, Baldy, etc.) Does it make any sense to try and do more than one or two? Would we really WANT to do more than two? With all the program, maybe one is enough? I'm really firing question blindly here, but I would think the peaks would be among the highlights
of any trek.

And a couple of you asked me to e-mail you. I didn't notice any e-mail address to use so I'll pass along mine for you to use. All correspondence is appreciated.

Just as impressive as the number is WHO responded - long time List members know most of those responders and the wealth of their experience.
Regarding peaks, most (though not all) treks do one of the two major peaks (Phillips in the South/Central and Baldy in the North), a couple do neither, and only one or two of the gonzo routes do both. Almost all treks doing Phillip go over it with full gear, but Baldy is always a sidehike with limited gear. Other peaks include Trail Peak (usually a sidehike from Beaubien), and Black Mountain (I understand to be very tough, but with limited to no views, and usually done with packs).
While the views from the Tooth of Time are spectacular, it actually is not much of a climb, and treks with it should be viewed more in terms of the (very rocky) hike return via Tooth Ridge to Base (rather than a bus return from a distant turnaround). There are one or two treks tackle Tooth Ridge and as an out and back sidehike to the Tooth from Schaefers Pass.
Regarding the e-mail addresses, they should be included in the "From" line of each message header. Depending on your e-mail program and/or its settings, they may not normally display, but they should be there and retrievable.
