[Philmont]: First Aid Knowledge

Another thing I stress in Crew training is the requirement for increased
personal responsibility when on semi-wilderness or wilderness treks.
Not only do you need proper gear and proper physical training, you also
have to engage your brain and avoid stunts that will test your Darwinian
selection threshold. This is particularly important when you're in a
genuine wilderness environment, with no cell phone coverage and the
nearest help maybe days (weeks?) away. In-depth knowledge of Wilderness
First Aid is an outstanding skill to have - never needing it is an even
better skill to practice. Yes, "even at Philmont".
