Not to sound like an expert but someone who has been there and done
that......but failing filters usually mean they needed to be cleaned more efficiently
and more often.
We sometimes used a coffee filter and rubber banded it around the intake
filter if we were in really slimy water. We also used a bandanna when were using
water that had larger particles floating (or swimming -- tiny leaches at the
campsite around Wild Horse).
