Thanks! Yes went last year in July for Cub Scout Training and it was hot
even at night (especially in tent city)! Now looking at weather for next
weeks Scoutmaster Training - now it is cold at night (32 degrees). I
volunteered for Scout Master training trough Council before son picked out
Troop, so I don't know for sure my future position in son's new troop with
"old time" scoutmaster (25 years plus). Hopefully to become Assistant Scout
Master after training, and maybe work more at District Level and Council?
Love Scouting and its Training- most especially the people! Last year @ PTC
was best experience of my Cub Scouting Life! Thanks for information and food
for thought! The boys have projected some cold weather camping for this year
(2204/2005) with more already being talked about later (i.e. mid winter
desert trip - very cold at night!-not sure my old body can handle it?) New -
to more challenging Boy Scout back packing camping rather than car camping
at Scout Ranch for Cub Scout Parent Weekend. Thanks again for your greatly
appreciated time and assistance! Yours in Scouting: Jerry D Bailey

Jerry, Jerry, Jerry...

One time use? Oh come now, if you are going to SM training, then you can
talk your boys into doing a winter camp so you can use the gear again. That
is enough justification for me :-)

There is lots of winter camping around here, San Jacinto, Arrowhead, why,
I'll bet there is even some up in your neck of the woods.

We got you to go to PTC (is this twice now?), so now it's time to do some of
the So. Cal. stuff that makes the rest of the nation jealous of the variety
we have within an easy drive :-)

Mind you, we don't have 15 below nearby, but you are talking late summer PTC
cold weather, and we have lots of that around here!

Regards

Don Roberts

What is the weather like at Philmont Training Center/Base Camp now? I leave
Friday for PTC for Scoutmasters Training and curious? Thanks a million in
advance! Yours in Scouting: Jerry D Bailey (I am use to LA weather @ 105
yesterday @ Woodland Hills) (if cold have to buy one time use cold weather
gear)
