Neither Philmonts tents, nor the dining fly come with stakes. You provide your own. Be sure to take extras as some will grow legs and run away from your campsites (according to the scouts). We used a combination of 7" aluminum gutter nails, generic 'Y' shaped aluminum stakes (similar to the North face V stake), and MSR ground hog stakes (a slightly heavier/more durable version of a 'Y' shaped stake). All worked well with very little damage incurred. Reasonable care was taken when driving the stakes in. As we expected the damage incurred was proportional to the cost and relative weight of the stakes (the aluminum gutter nails were free from a contractor friend). We had a few slightly bent gutter nails, one or two of the generic 'Y' stakes were slightly bent and no damage to the MSR stakes. That said, I would not hesitate to use any of these stakes again.
On a side note, the MSR stakes come with a loop of cord to facilitate pulling the stakes. That was a really nice feature. After one of our training outings, I added a cord loop to the generic stakes by drilling a very small hole and using a short length of small diameter cord.
On a previous trip to Philmont, we used a combination of the twisted shaft aluminum stakes and the round shaft 'candy cane' shaped aluminum stakes. We had a much higher rate of damage to these stakes. When they hit a rock underground, the rounded top bends pretty readily.

Remember to buy your own stakes???? You mean when using the Philmont tents, you have to provide your own, as in bringing some from home or buying some from the trading post? If that's the case, what style works the best?

We had a good experience with Philmont tents, but remember to buy your own stakes! That is not included in the fee.
