RE: [Philmont]: weather gear check?

Thank you! I am worried about temp change especially at night! Our high
projected here for today is 105 - too hot. Nights are still high as
Philmont's hottest. I have a big heavy double size sleeping bag - not sure
how to transport yet? Double the size of normal bag - any suggestions on how
to hand carry to PTC? To late to mail. Only used for car camping prior to
this, and not to easy to handle -- any recommendations would be greatly
appreciated. P.S. Amtrak just upgraded me from coach to first class for a
small fee so the trip there will be much more enjoyable this year! Thanks
again for the greatly appreciated information. I leave LA, CA Friday @ 6:45,
get to Raton Sat about same time. I love Scouting, and especially Philmont -
really looking forward to it! Yours in Scouting: Jerry D Bailey

For the latest "up to the minute" information ;>) you can also check out
the Sangre de Christo Chronicle [www.sangrechronicle.com] a weekly newspaper
out of Angle Fire. The "Weather" page lists the high and low for the week
along with precipitation - graciously provided for Philmont by Marilyn
Vargas. From the latest edition (Sept 2, - it comes out on Thursday) the
high was 84 on the 26th and the low was 41on the 27th. They didn't have any
precipitation *this* week.

Happy Trails,

Roy Fisher

What is the weather like at Philmont Training Center/Base Camp now? I leave
Friday for PTC for Scoutmasters Training and curious? Thanks a million in
advance! Yours in Scouting: Jerry D Bailey (I am use to LA weather @ 105
yesterday @ Woodland Hills) (if cold have to buy one time use cold weather
gear)
