Re: [Philmont] - Hunting Lodge Water

We passed through Hunting Lodge on August 4. Some of
the guys complained about the sulfur taste in the
water, but I personally did not notice it. I may be
biased, though, in that my home well water has a
sulfur odor to it. But I drank the Hunting Lodge water
and it tasted fine.

We took Polar Pure, but we used an MSR MiniWorks
filter during the relatively few times we had to
refill at a trail camp. We were always able to find
clear, flowing water along Trek 12 in the South and
Central country. That uses a ceramic filter that can
be field-cleaned with a squegee device, which we did a
few times. Overall, we didn't spend too much time
filtering.

Other than that, we used the purified water at most
staffed camps.
