I really appreciate all the input on my Christmas Tents post. Now I need few suggestions for my trekkers' parents that are considering Christmas Sleeping Bags. I have been looking at bags on the net, but I need recommendations from pholks with Philmont experience.
I've been trying to find a new, 2 lb, 6'6" long, 38" wide, 20 degree, rectangular (I abhor having my feet bound), $65, sleeping bag that stuffs down to the size of a softball. I don't think I'll find one.
In reality I'm thinking about suggesting a lightweight 30 degree bag and adding a fleece liner. I've eliminated "down" bags due to performance when wet. I'm willing to stand corrected if anyone knows of a reasonably priced down bag that can keep out the rain.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Please don't hesitate to list make, model, and price.
