Our Troop owns two of these purifiers also, and they worked very well for us
in Philmont, Colorado, Arkansas, Lousiana, and Texas on many trips. We use a
coffee filter with a rubber band as a pre filter in really dirty water. They
werte purchased in 2000, and still work well. I used mine this summer in the
North Ponil, Fish Camp and Baldy areas. If you are interested in purchasing
one, consider the company below. I have no affiliation with them, other than
they are the lowest cost for the First Need purifier that I could find. They
are almost half of what REI gets for them.
