Since it was mentioned, I'll put in a little detail on the train.
Our crew last year took the southwest chief from Fullerton to
Raton to get to Philmont. It goes through Albuquerque. The train
to Raton runs once a day, and tends to arrive between 30 minutes and
4 hours late. If you wanted to fly to ALB and take the train,
you would have to find your way from the airport to the train station,
then take the philbus from Raton to Philmont, with a late evening
arrival at Philmont. I doubt this is a great option, and with
the size of your group, chartering a bus is likely better.
