Dan,
I see Stony Creek Mills is by Reading
Delta has flights from ABE (Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton) to ABQ (Albuquerque)
Southwest has flights from PHL (Philadelphia) to ABQ
Frontier has non stops to Denver (DEN) and will connect you to a flight to
ABQ from DEN
Blue Sky Adventures ( www.blueskyadventures.net ) has comprehensive travel
packages for Philmont Bound Scouts in ABQ
Leading the Way Tours (www.leadingthewaytours.com )has comprehensive travel
packages for Philmont Bound Scouts in Denver and Colorado Springs
I have groups of 12, 74, 82, and 37 to Philmont
We have always gone via Colorado using tour operators there
The last three with Christine and Del of Leading the Way Tours.
When I go to PTC (Philmont training Center) I go through ABQ
There is much to do in either city
Pikes Peak - Sandia Peak
Rafting either place
Air force Academy, US Olympic Center - NM Museum of Natural history, Atomic
Energy Museum
Flying W - Pancho's Mexican
I recommend, you review the choices (flights, airfare, activities)
carefully with your advisors (and Scouts) and make an informed decision on
your route
Your Scouts will have fun in either city
On normal prices, Southwest is cheapest but they will only book about three
months in advance
You may wish to lock up your flights sooner so the parents don't worry
We flew Frontier last summer when they first opened in PHL
The non stops were probably the best Philmont bound flights I have had.
