[Philmont]: Back in Time...

Hi:

The retro look hike could be pretty entertaining. There's nothing like a Yucca pack and a canvas pup tent to bring back all those memories. You might want to strap a Dutch oven to the outside of the pack to complete the look.

On the Tooth of Time ridge trail we saw two hikers with gear from what looking like the early 1970s. Old, worn out, sun bleached nylon packs with the thin web waist belts. The Scouts were surprised to see the low tech gear. One of the hikers even had an old Dacron 88 sleeping bag with the funky flannel liner. Great stuff.
