This was a great example of how well this list works to generate ideas and
flush out concerns.

John, just to tack on one other item that is, to me any way, just as
important a subject is "base weight".

What is the weight of your pack prior to your arrival at Philmont?

We set a maximum limit of 25 pounds with a strong suggestion that closer to
21 or 2 would be much better.

Our heaviest was 25. The guys did a great job trimming things down. With
food, water and patrol equipment, we were able to keep everyone under 45
pounds on the trail. That did alot to ease the day's journey.

Looks like we will be preping for a Boundary Water trip this summer, my
third with the troop, can't wait!!! How the heck to you do the J-Stroke
again?? :)
