Similarly, I can't imagine that I could reduce my pack weight by 10 pounds.
I left base camp at 50 pounds. I didn't have much excessive personal gear,
although I took a fleece, despite the ranger's statement that I wouldn't use
it, and used it almost every day for warmth and every night for a pillow. No
stool. miinimal shirts, socks, pants, raingear. 4 liters of water.

Crew gear, I carried part of a tent (Eureka 4-man split 3 ways, so there
could be some savings there), the first aid kit, and maybe a few
miscellaneous kitchen items.

When we had 4 days of food (and leaving base camp, we did) I carried some
food, but then let the youth carry it when we started eating through it.

I didn't have any problems, but then I was 238 pouinds on January 1 and only
218 when we left base camp.

Thanks,
Scott Sibley
