RE: [Philmont]: Philmont Provided Equipment

I have an Excel spreadsheet set up with a tab for individual equipment, crew
equipment and Philmont equipment. I use it to list by name, brand or
description each item and who is responsible for crew gear. On the Philmont
section I note if we are supplying or Philmont. I also use one of the
columns to keep track of the weight. It helps on deciding what I want to
take or leave behind. If anyone would like the file, send an email directly
to me and I will reply with it as an attachment.

>From the Guidebook to Adventure (Official Philmont Publication):

Equipment Provided by Philmont:

12' x 12' nylon dining fly

2 collapsible poles for dining fly (crews must supply their own stakes)

1 BSA Philmont Backpacker nylon tent with poles (per two persons)(crews

must provide a ground cloth and stakes)

1 Trail Chef Kit with either

8 qt. pot OR 6 qt. pot w/ lid

4 qt. pot 4 qt. pot w/ lid

fry pan w/ handle fry pan w/ handle

2 large spoons

1 large spatula

2 pair hot pot tongs

1 extra 8 qt. or 6 qt. pot for washing dishes

1 camp shovel

Plastic trash bags

Salt & pepper

Dishwashing soap

Hand sanitizer

Scrub pads

Water purification chemical

150' of 1/4 nylon rope

3 bear bags

Plastic stainer

Rubber scraper

Toilet paper

In years past, crews were free to substitute their own equipment for any

or all of the equipment that is provided by Philmont - except the water

purification chemical. There is no reduction of the fee if you use your

own equipment however.

Hope this helps and

Happy Trails
