Please, strip off the excess when replying, some of us have slow
connections!
A scout is courteous!

Anyway, we took two MSR Whisperlites and two bottles of fuel (1 l).

We paid $1 at the pack rental at CHQ to fill one bottle.

When we used that up, we paid $1 at the commissary to refill it.

There weren't a lot of crews around and no real extras. There were
extra cannisters for compressed gas stoves, but no extra white gas
for us whisperlite users. We'd heard about
having to buy a whole container of fuel to refill from, but that was not
what we ran into this summer, they were refilling at commissaries.

We could easily have made the trek with just two (one liter) bottles
of fuel, but the boys wasted about three days worth one night before
they really learned how to use the stove (shows how much we adults
were doing for them on our training hikes!). One of the stoves failed
and though I field stripped it and got it going again, it wouldn't stop
flaring up and that used up a lot of fuel without a lot of heating (not
to mention making the outside of the pot filthy). Hopefully cleaning
it up at home will resolve that problem.

Since we could have campfires (yay! they reinstituted the campfire
after 8-6) we could have heated our water over the open fire, I suppose.
