All crews should go through these stages:

forming, storming, norming, and performing.

If, as Dr Bob noted, you wait for Philmont to form, you probably will stay stuck in storming regardless of the trek you select.

Those of us who train and work dilligently at crew cohesion skip through all four steps quickly at Philmont. We're often ready to begin performing before our Ranger is scheduled to return to Base Camp.

As a Contingent Advisor, I guide my Crew Advisors to acheive a high performance crew. Often they do, but each crew has a lot of autonomy. It's boy led after all:-)
