Our crew came up with one item different. Rather than a mesh bag for
personal smellables, we decided a small waterproof bag was called for. We
hiked in monsoon season in 2004. The bear bags weren't waterproof, so the
personal smellables bags needed to be. Otherwise, everything was wet each
morning for packing back into your backpack. It was TOO much trouble to get
everything into ziplocs each night. <snip>

Comment...

Agree that the personal smellable bag needs to be waterproof. When you say
"Too much trouble to get everything into ziplocs each night," I assume you
are talking about gallon size. I use a large (2 1/2 gallon?) ziplock bag I
picked up at Wal-Mart - even has a handle for carrying it. Throwing
everything, including my 35 mm camera, into that is no trouble at all.
