How much were the rangers paid in 2006? Any perks?

Maybe the challenge of hiring enough staff--or at least getting enough
applicants in the pool--is something we can all help with. The Scouts
I've encouraged to apply for Philmont staff are usually so in awe of the
ranger mystique that they don't even apply.

I'm sure the Philmont Staff Association will be encouring members to
spread the word this winter, but there's no reason all Scouters can't go
to http://www.scouting.org/philmont/working/index.html
<http://www.philstaff.com> , download some applications, and hand them
to our Scouts and former Scouts who'll be 18 next summer.

If Philmont wants to increase participation, they better figure
out how to hire more rangers. This past summer, rangers worked for six
straight weeks without a day off, due to a shortage or rangers.
