[philmont] Troop equipment needs

Sometimes sporting good retail stores are willing to part with stuff
in less than
perfect condition - same for manufacturers. Sometimes both are
willing to part with stuff in order to clear space for new inventory.

In this area Dick Sporting Goods has huge warehouse stores and
sometimes runs fire sales on the sidewalk. The prices for top quality
camping gear sometime borders on the incredible - a few dollars for a
nylon camping chair was one recent
give away item.

Get the word out in your area on what you need and I'll bet someone
will be able to help.

You could also try the manufacturers directly for pricing on seconds.
They are often willing to help out a Scout troop, knowing that good
will established will result in sales sometime down the road.

Good luck.
