But what would you do for a hip belt, much less a buckle?

Ok Mark,

If you gotta come to Texas, Kilgore is as good a place to start as any.
Plenty of oil derricks right in the middle of town. Take that image of
Texas back to California with you if you will.

and while you are there, if by any chance you can arrange it, try to watch a
performance of the Lilgore Rangerettes from Kilgore Junior College. They
are second to none and a real class act to boot. One of our good friends at
our church is a former Rangerette and I can't tell you enough good things.
Just don't sit around a motel room when you could be watching them perform
at a football game or anywhere else.

That's some of the best Texas has to offer..........in Kilgore that is.

Well, I'm at work and taking a break from the stove which has a 3 gallon
cast iron pot full of alligator sauce piquante and rice to match so I better
get back to the stove.

Enjoy your stay in our hot, humid weather.

See you soon.

PS I'm thinking of packing my stuff for AA in my old official BSA Yucca
pack and wrapping the "bedroll" around the top in horseshoe fashion just
like my BSA Boyscout Handbook taught me so long ago.

The only problem is that if I do and word gets out, these youngsters on this
list will flaunt my using an infernal frame pack. and that bothers me.

Moving on to the 70's John! Keep dragging your feet and you might keep your

I will be camping with John for the first time in exactly 3 weeks. While
we have not met I believe I would follow him to the 70's, the stone age or
all the way to hell if that is the direction he was heading.

In order to prepare for the time warp I will travel to Kilgore Texas next
week. I am told it is as close to the early 1960's as I can find without
mind altering drugs. Today I am in San Francisco so the drugs are readily
available. Just not my first preference so I will travel to Texas.

Mark
