But now I have a problem. Roy Fisher is calling packs like mine (70's)
"collectors items". Should I quit using it? No I'm NOT serious.

Hey, I never said don't use it. I just said that it was a collector's item.

I know folks (my neighbor for one) who drive around in vintage automobiles
that are also 'collector's items'. I probably have a sister/brother to your
pack in my garage. It has been all over, including the Rockies, Tetons,
Ouachitas, Washitas, and much more, including Philmont twice. It is still a
serviceable pack. I also have a Yucca pack that also has some significant
miles on it. It is also a collector's item, but I wouldn't use it now.

Happy Trails,

Roy Fisher
