Mark,

Being a Californian (38 years)(Placerville/Pollock Pines), now living close
to Dallas (Arlington-9years), I too wondered about the humidity and all. The
good news is that you do get used to the humidity...well, sort of... and
wells, you just learn to avoid them...my difficulty....where are all the
mountains and trees.:-)..Spending 2 weeks at Philmont this summer gave me
just the fix I needed to walk among the trees and try to catch my breath as
I climbed Baldy and all the other hills and mountains...all though different
than the Sierra's, it was great...have a great time taking in the scenery,
being out of breath, washing those dishes and most importantly...hearing and
gaining a bunch of new stories.

Last year the old blind guy provided cold rain and several feet of
snow. This year I am counting on someone bringing along some of the
Texas warmth and humidity along with them.

Why in the world would anyone WANT to live near Dallas? It was nice
when I left Sacramento (little humidity, clear skys and low 70's upper
60's) landed in Dallas to floods, lightinging, rain, and humidity with
a pile of roads whose primary purpose seemed to be getting me lost.

People in Kilgore are nice and it is green here. Guess the thing that
is a bit strange is the humidity and the folk who plant oil wells in
their front yard. Very strange indeed.
