All,

I imagine that most of you think of Philmont the way I do: in memories and in photographs. Some of you may be familiar with the artistry of Dawn Chandler but I imagine most are not. When Dawn thinks of Philmont she applies a brush to canvas or a pastel to paper.

I wanted to forward a note I received from her last evening and highlight the pastel of Urraca Mesa she has donated to the Philmont Staff Association's 2007 Raffle. At $25 a ticket you could win an outstanding piece of art for your mantle.

Friends ~

Evenings are becoming cooler here in northern New Mexico, with the
fragrance of roasting green chiles and pinon smoke in the air. Though
the mountain meadows of summer may be physically far away, I invite you
to amble through them again in your mind's eye via my recent landscapes,
now viewable on my newly updated web site at www.taosdawn.com.

For those of you with a specific interest in my landscapes of Philmont,
please note that I am donating one of my pastels to the Philmont Staff
Association (PSA) as part of their raffle to raise much needed moneys
for their Annual Fund. The pastel is titled "Urraca Morning" and may be
seen on the "mesas" page of the Philmont landscape section of my site:
http://www.taosdawn.com/LandPhilmont02.html.

Though the pastel is priced at $550, raffle tickets are a mere $25, and
may be purchased through the PSA web site at
http://store.philstaff.com/2007raffle5pk.html
The raffle drawing will take place Saturday, October 13 at the PSA's
annual meeting in Dallas. You do not need to be present to win, nor do
you need to be a PSA member to buy a ticket.

For those of you already daydreaming about next summer, I hope you'll
make plans to come to Taos in time for my two woman art exhibition with
fellow artist Joan Fullerton, to be held next August. For more details,
please visit the "news" page of my site, where you'll also find
information about some of the exciting things that have been going on in
my little corner of the New Mexico art scene:

Thanks so much for your continued interest in my art ~ Cheers and best
wishes ~ and a glorious autumn to you all!

~ Dawn Chandler
