[philmont] Cheep shots at the Texans (Just don't know what's good for me)

When I went Elk hunting out of Gunnison, CO, I met the outfitter at a trailhead/remote campground where we saddled up and rode into the mountains.

As I always do in places like that, I backed my truck into a parking place. It makes it a lot easier to jump start it if the battery goes dead.

The outfitter told me I might want to take the Texas license plate off the front and hide it so the younger crowd that "patrold" those lots couldn't see it. He said it might save a tire or two. I told him "you're kidding me" but he wasn't. I asked him how he knew they did that. He just smiled and said "I used to be young and dumb and a little braver after a nip. We just considered it sport to baxh Texas vehicles.

Since that time I've taken my front plate off when I go to Colorado. You'd be amazed the difference in the way drivers treat you.

Of course he also told me that Californians have taken some of the pressure off Texans in Colorado lately.

On a more serious note, it's something how we stereotype people because of where they are from. I think they call that prejudice don't they.

Well, I'm gonna set that aside for a week or so for AA and put on my Scout cap and act accordingly.

this may be the last email before we leave for AA. It's my last night at work and access to a computer. We still don't have electricity at home yet. We are hoping it will be soon, but it will be on when it's on. There wer crews working near us this afternoon but there is still a lot of damage to transmission lines. The positive part is that ther eis electricity on withing two blocks of our house.

Adios, farewell and think of me slaving in the mountins while you guys eck out a living.

teach a Risk Management and Law Course for a local college for Ski Area Employees. Instead of referring to a person who is injured as a plaintiff, injured guest, etc, I just use the term Texan. Everyone understands what I am saying………..
